  • Windows 10 Sales to Consumers Discontinued by Microsoft

Microsoft has announced that it will no longer offer Windows 10 licenses and downloads to consumers. This means that as of January 31st, you will no longer be able to purchase Windows 10 Home or Pro from Microsoft’s official channels. However, it’s unclear at this time how the company will handle listings on third-party distributors such as Amazon.

Windows 10 Sales to Consumers Discontinued by Microsoft

This decision comes two years after Microsoft announced that it would officially end support for Windows 10 on October 14, 2025. While the discontinuation of sales to consumers may seem like the end of the road for Windows 10, it’s important to note that there may still be opportunities to obtain Windows 10 licenses or even laptops and PCs pre-installed with the operating system from third-party sellers.

When it was first launched in July 2015, Windows 10 was marketed as a quick and seamless update from its predecessor, Windows 8. Windows 10 was the first version of Windows to be offered as a service, with continuous updates, and at one point, Microsoft had even stated that it would be the “last version” of Windows. Despite this, it’s clear that Windows 10 will be remembered as a major milestone in the development of the Windows operating system.
